received her initial training from Northwestern School of Practical Midwifery in Portland, Oregon, in 1977. She is one of the founding mothers of the Oregon Midwifery Council and has been the editor of Birthing
for 15 years. Her two children were both born at home. Though Patricia attempted retirement, she now continues, with passion, to do birthwork as a midwife.
